The IKARI philosophy of personal skin care
Unique skin like yours deserves unique skin products. Our mission has been to identify the infinite number of different skin types and to create corresponding products for them. At IKARI you get personal cosmetics at a reasonable price for optimal results.
Dr. Ilan Karavani, the Antwerp dermatologist, developed the YourSkinType ™ skin analysis, a revolutionary measuring system that makes it possible to define your skin from more than 300,000 different skin types. A team of specialists in the development of cosmetics formulated the basis of the IKARI cosmetics brand. Since then, the IKARI team has further expanded the line, while Karavani continued his scientific work and research.

The YourSkinType™ method, its technology, and the Modular Skin Care line of IKARI are the result of a joint effort of experts in three different fields: Dermatology, Engineering, and a leading Swiss Cosmetic lab.

The research of Dr. Karavani on skin typology led to the discovery of the secret language of the skin. Engineers converted this knowledge in a software algorithm that translates your skin type into a skin code, leading to a customized skin care regimen. The production of the modular cosmetics according to the skin code, is the effort of one of the leading Swiss labs in the world.

Dr Ilan Karavani – Dermatologist

Dr Karavani has a degree in Dermatology with a specialization in Dermatosurgery. He completed his studies in Cosmetic Sciences in 1989 and in 1991 founded his private practice that specializes primarily in surgery and cosmetics.

In 2006 he launched his first patented device to measure skin and define skin types and, with the help of a team of specialists, created the IKARI brand of cosmetics. IKARI products are the perfect complement to the modular SKINCODER™ system. Read more (CV)

Mr. Michael Bensamoun – IT Developer

Mr. Bensamoun graduated in economics and specialized in the development and management of software solutions.
In 2006 he started to develop the Your Skin Type and IKARI applications. He is a founding partner of the company YST-Expertise and takes charge of the financial and operational management of the company.
He is also responsible for business development and IT management.

The most respected Swiss Lab for cosmetics formulated the IKARI Modular system.

Statistics show that over 80 percent of consumers misjudge their own skin type, resulting in improper skincare. The average consumer purchases blindly and is continuously searching for the perfect skin cream. Up until now only cosmetic oriented dermatologists could prescribe the suitable cream for your skin type.

That’s about to change!

About a century go the cosmetic world described only four main skin types: sensitive, dry, oily, and combination. Naturally, there are actually countless other types. That causes much confusion. What cream corresponds with your skin? 

The YourSkinType  system can distinguish over 300.000 different skin types and follows the evolution of your skin with each new measurement!

How to start?

Do the SkinScan on line, using your phone or the link on our website. You can also meet our experts in person in one of our Professional IKARI Centers, the Pro Centers. Every skin therapist in our Pro Centers uses the professional SkinScan, after passing an examination followed by a certificate qualifying them use of the scanner. Hence, you can be reassured that your skin therapist has the skill and knowledge to perform a correct SkinScan and a proper diagnose.

Get your SkinCode

The SkinScan provides you with a unique SkinCode. Your personal SkinCode is delivered to you at the end of each SkinScan by email and on a personal identity card, together with a full report on your personalized skin care regimen.  

You can purchase your products on line or you can shop locally at one of our Pro Centers.

The IKARI team has years of research and experience behind them, searching for the answer to your questions about your skin. Finally, they assembled all their knowledge into one unique software package, which performs an accurate dermatologic diagnosis, called YourSkinType™ skinscan.

Skin has its own specific way of expressing itself and IKARI’s goal was to translate that language in some way so that man could comprehend it. It took many months of intensive research for Dr. Karavani and his research team to find a solution. At long last, in 2007, the secret language of skin was converted into a SkinCode.  

The SkinCode is a 15-digit figure that provides an extremely accurate reflection of your skin condition. This code enters a specialized search engine that enables to retrieve the most suitable products and their personal directions for use from the IKARI database.

The YourSkinType™ label is the original scan system, benefiting from the training and support of expert dermatologists.

How it all began?

The secret of skin care lies in the knowledge of the skin, rather than in the promise of the jar.

That was the incentive that drove Dr. Karavani, a leading expert on skin care, to research on skin typology and how to build an optimal customized skin regimen for each of his patients.
The desire to approach skin care with the same professionalism and standards as a dermatologist treats skin diseases, was the motivation to start the research that led to this magnificent and professional system. After all, we’re dealing with the same living organ, and the tools to improve it, only now it’s applied to skin conditions that are considered as minor by the medical community. 

Analysis by a true skin specialist, a precise diagnose, and targeted and customized treatments followed by an evaluation of their efficacy, is the way Dr. Karavani sees the future of skin care. Exactly like a dermatologist would treat all other skin conditions.

The superiority of MODULAR COSMETICS​

The action of cosmetics has to be targeted and efficient. It would be easy if there was one cream for “all skin types”, which could solve the dilemma of choice at once. Unfortunately, no such cream exists because conflicting ingredients cannot be combined in the same preparation.

The modular concept allows us to create an individual solution for every skin type without having to produce thousands of products. A limited number of modules, each with a specific task, which can be combined to create an unlimited and unique individual solution. We use this concept daily in many ways. For example, our language is a modular concept. It’s composed of merely  26 letters, but it allows us to write countless unique texts. A printer needs only four cartridges to print billions of different images.

The power of a modular concept is that it is connecting a limited amount of modules in a unique way to create unlimited combinations.

With the IKARI modules can form 300.000  combinations to provide a unique skin care program, by using only a few modules. The program is composed of a precise selection and combination of modules, with a specific time of use, and their personal direction of use.

The premium quality of each ingredient in its specific serum, depends on its formulation at the time of the production process in the Swiss lab. It is impossible to reach those high standards by mixing – often incompatible – ingredients in a single serum, outside the setting and without the equipment of these high-tech labs. The Swiss know how in this matter is outstanding and deserves its reputation.
